It's clear that there's still an old-school playerbase, and I think Nexon could do a better job at developing a v62 server if they wanted to. Steam version of MapleStory has ~800, not including the people running from the launcher, which probably isn't a high number anyway. MapleRoyals has ~1.5k players on at all times.
I've played MapleRoyals and I enjoy it more than the current Maple, but private servers are always broken and development on them feels almost non-existent. What made old maplestory great, was it's community and the fact that you could explore the whole game as soon as you got to lv 10.Įven with nostalgia servers, the feeling is not the same, you can't recreate how it felt when playing for the very first time.
